I never got the idea of it though, I mean ok so they don't want wedding presents? isn't it rude to do something like that?! ya3ni if I worked on finding a suitable present for someone and then they say walla I don't accept presents.. I'd be pissed of I'd probably wanna smash the present into their face and say "il sharha 3ala ili thought of you" and hate them for the rest of my life.
I had to read it over again to check and yep, I'd defiantly do that.
Someone can probably explain this issue a lot better then I. But I think the issue here is that when some abstains from receiving the 3aniya its means that they themselves will not pay a 3aniya to anyone else. Thus what Tequila said makes a lot of sense that once they married off their own kids they say we will no longer accept the 3aniya so that they don’t have to pay it to anyone else.
