Kuwaiti Gangster ‘C’rap!

Gangster Rap is defined by wikipedia as “a subgenre of hip hop music which involves a lyrical focus on the lifestyles of inner-city thugs, criminals and gangsters.”

One of the things that come to mind when thinking about gangster rap is gang signs, made famous by inner-city bad boy African Americans. The purpose of gang sings is to communicate information between two parties without da police finding out about it.

Below you will find some of these signs and what they mean (courtesy of this guy):

Number One

Number One

Athens Park Gang

Bishop

Bounty Hunters Gang

Cousin Crips Gang

East Side Gang

F**k You

The primary purpose of this post is to shed light on one of these signs exclusively, that sign is the “Number One” sign. When someone flashes the number one sign it implies that this someone thinks he or she is number one, as in better then their peers. If a chef flashes this sign this implies that in his mind he thinks that his food is the best food and everyone else’s food is just NOT worthy of being in the presence of his food. Same goes for the shoe-shine guy, gynecologist, and witch-doctor.

Behold the ‘Number One’ Band in Kuwait

P.S. Kindly go back and look at their first picture on top. The picture says "despite the fact that we're asleep, we're still number one" implying of course that they are so good that no effort is required in order for them to be at number one.
